Maybe you've seen the Mathematics Language Routines (MLRs) in the high school curriculum and wondered what they were all about. Maybe you're thinking that your next step in reaching more learners is providing language support. Wherever you are on your teaching journey, this session will offer some ideas for better understanding the connection between mathematics and language and how the MLRs fit into a lesson. You will experience some mathematics language routines and understand their design and purpose for both language and mathematical understanding. Participants will learn how to be more intentional in implementing the MLRs to have a greater impact on student learning.
